## Commonly asked questions about cargo claims

##### **What types of cargo claims can AirHelp handle?**

We help recover losses related to damage, loss or non-delivery, delay, reefer and perishable issues, and short delivery — across **multimodal transport**, including air, land, and sea freight.

##### **How does the “no win, no fee” model work?**

There are no upfront costs. We only charge a success-based fee if we recover compensation. If we don’t win your claim, you pay nothing.

##### **What documents do I need to submit a cargo claim?**

Typically, we require the bill of lading or airway bill, commercial invoice, packing list, photos of the damage (if available), and any correspondence with the carrier. If we need additional documentation, we’ll let you know.

##### **How long does the claims process take?**

Timelines vary based on carrier response, jurisdiction, and complexity. Simple claims may resolve within weeks, while more complex cases can take longer. We keep you updated throughout the process.

##### Can AirHelp handle international cargo claims?

Yes. Our global network of legal partners and industry specialists enables us to manage cross-border cargo claims and navigate international transport law.

##### **Do you work with freight forwarders and insurers?**

Yes. We support shippers, forwarders, and insurers — managing claims on behalf of your clients or policyholders and reducing your administrative workload.

##### **Is there a minimum claim value?**

No. We accept claims of many sizes — including smaller cases that fall below insurance deductibles and are often left unpursued. If you’re unsure whether your claim qualifies, simply submit the details and we’ll assess it for free.

##### Can AirHelp handle multiple claims or recurring issues?

Yes. We work with businesses that manage ongoing logistics operations and regularly assist with multiple claims across different lanes, carriers, and transport modes.

##### **What deadlines apply to air cargo claims?**

**Under the Montreal Convention (MC99), strict notice periods apply and cannot be extended:**

- Damage: written protest within 14 days of delivery

- Delay: written protest within 21 days of goods being placed at your disposal

- Loss: claim must be filed within 21 days

Missing these deadlines extinguishes your right to claim.

A 2-year limitation period also applies from the date of arrival (or the date the aircraft should have arrived). We track these deadlines from the moment you submit, so you never lose a valid claim on a technicality.

*Please note that our cargo claims services are offered to business customers (B2B) only and are subject to individually agreed terms and conditions.*
